Monstera deliciosa Kokedama

The Monstera deliciosa is bold, tropical and instantly recognisable.

Large, glossy green leaves unfurl with dramatic natural splits and holes, a feature known as fenestration. Each new leaf emerges tightly rolled before slowly opening into a sculptural statement. No two leaves look exactly the same.

It has strong jungle energy. Lush. Confident. Slightly wild.

As a kokedama, the structured moss ball grounds the plant’s dramatic foliage, creating a striking contrast between organic growth and clean form.

Pet & Reptile Safety

⚠️ Monstera deliciosa is NOT pet safe.

It is toxic to dogs, cats, and reptiles if ingested due to calcium oxalate crystals in the leaves and stems. If you have curious pets or free roaming reptiles, this plant should be kept well out of reach.

Plant Care

Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal. It can tolerate medium light but will produce fewer splits in lower light. Avoid harsh direct afternoon sun.

Water: Allow the moss ball to dry slightly between waterings. Do not keep constantly soggy.

Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity but adapts well to typical indoor conditions.

Temperature: Thrives in warm indoor environments. Protect from cold drafts.

Growth Habit: Naturally a climbing plant. Over time, it may benefit from support as it matures and produces larger leaves.

Kokedama Care

Watering: When the moss ball feels light, submerge it in room temperature water for 10–15 minutes. Gently squeeze out excess water and allow it to drain completely before placing back.

Frequency will depend on your environment, but typically every 7–10 days.

Drainage: Never allow the kokedama to sit in standing water.

Moss Maintenance: Light misting helps keep the outer moss fresh. Moss touch ups or full rewraps can be done over time as needed.

Feeding: Use a diluted liquid fertiliser once a month during spring and summer.

Rotation: Rotate regularly to encourage even growth and prevent leaning toward the light.
