Neoregelia Bromeliads

Updated: Aug 27

Neoregelia bromeliads are some of the most versatile, striking plants you can add to a terrarium or reptile setup. Whether small, medium, or large, these bromeliads bring color, texture, and tropical vibes without demanding too much from you.

Why I buy Them

  • Size Variety: From tiny tabletop beauties to medium or large statement plants, there’s a Neoregelia for every corner of your terrarium or vivarium.

  • Color Pop: Many varieties feature vibrant reds, pinks, or purples in the central “cup,” which really makes the plant stand out against green foliage.

  • Pet & Reptile Safe: Completely non-toxic, making them perfect companions for geckos, frogs, and other small reptiles. Critters can explore, climb, or even sit in the water-filled central cup without worry.

  • No Soil Needed: Neoregelias don’t require soil to thrive! They can grow perfectly when mounted on driftwood, rocks, or other surfaces. You can even staple or attach them to terrarium backgrounds, making them ideal for vertical displays or creating layered jungle scenes.

Care Notes

  • Light: Bright, indirect light is best. Some direct sun is okay, but avoid scorching the leaves.

  • Water: Keep the central cup filled with water, especially in terrariums or vivariums. Mist occasionally to maintain humidity.

  • Humidity & Temperature: Loves tropical conditions — high humidity and normal indoor temperatures (18–28°C) keep them thriving.

  • Versatility: Use as a ground accent, centerpiece, hanging display, or mounted background plant. Their soil-free nature makes them extremely adaptable for creative terrarium setups.

Neoregelia bromeliads are more than just decorative; they’re functional, versatile, and pet-friendly. Their ability to thrive without soil, combined with stunning colors and sizes, means you can place them anywhere — on the floor, on wood, or mounted vertically for a dramatic tropical display. Adding even one of these to a terrarium instantly elevates the whole setup — it’s like having a mini rainforest at home.
