Appearance and growth habit

Monstera deliciosa Thai Constellation is a showstopper with large, split-prone green leaves splashed with creamy white and pale yellow variegation. Each leaf has its own unique constellation-like pattern, so no two leaves are exactly alike. This climbing aroid makes a stunning statement plant and will need space to grow, along with a moss pole or support as it matures.

Care requirements

Place your Thai Constellation in bright, indirect light to encourage healthy growth and maintain its beautiful variegation. Water when the top few centimetres of the potting mix have dried, and use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix. It appreciates warmth, good humidity and gentle airflow. Avoid harsh direct sunlight and overwatering. This beauty may look like a star, but its roots still need sensible care.

Troubleshooting

Yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering, poor drainage or natural ageing, while brown patches may result from low humidity, inconsistent watering or sunburn. If new leaves emerge with less variegation, check that the plant receives enough bright, indirect light. Wipe leaves regularly and inspect for pests such as thrips, spider mites and mealybugs. Remember that white sections contain less chlorophyll, so some browning on highly variegated areas can occur.

Pet and reptile safety

Monstera deliciosa Thai Constellation is toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or ingested because it contains insoluble calcium oxalate crystals, which can cause oral irritation, drooling, vomiting and difficulty swallowing. Keep it away from curious pets. It is not recommended for reptile enclosures, particularly where reptiles may chew or ingest the plant. Choose a confirmed reptile-safe species for bioactive habitats instead.
