Appearance and growth habit
Philodendron Sodiroi is a gorgeous climbing Philodendron prized for its large, heart-shaped leaves with a silvery-green sheen and darker green veins. It produces climbing growth and will happily attach itself to a moss pole, plank or other support. With the right conditions, the leaves become larger and more impressive as the plant matures — definitely a Philodendron that likes to show off.
Care requirements
Give Philodendron Sodiroi bright, indirect light and keep it warm, ideally around 18–28°C. Water when the top few centimetres of the growing medium have dried, using a chunky, well-draining aroid mix. It enjoys moderate to high humidity and benefits from a moss pole or similar support. Regular feeding during active growth will encourage larger, healthier leaves.
Troubleshooting
Yellowing leaves are usually linked to overwatering, poor drainage or roots staying too wet for too long. Brown, crispy edges can indicate low humidity, underwatering or too much direct sunlight. Small leaves and slow growth usually mean the plant needs more light, support or nutrients. Keep conditions stable and give it something to climb — bigger leaves are much easier when the plant has a proper support system.
Pet and reptile safety
Philodendron Sodiroi is toxic to cats and dogs if chewed or eaten because it contains insoluble calcium oxalates, which can cause mouth irritation, drooling and difficulty swallowing. It is not recommended for reptiles that may nibble on the foliage. For reptile enclosures, choose a confirmed reptile-safe plant instead.
