Appearance and growth habit

Scindapsus Silver Splash is a beautiful trailing houseplant with heart-shaped green leaves covered in attractive silver-grey splashes and markings. It develops long, trailing or climbing stems, making it ideal for hanging baskets, shelves or trained up a support. A great choice if you want something leafy with a little extra attitude.

Care requirements

Give Scindapsus Silver Splash bright, indirect light to encourage strong growth and maintain its silver variegation. Allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings and use a well-draining potting mix. It enjoys warmth and moderate to high humidity, although it is generally quite forgiving once settled.

Troubleshooting

Yellowing leaves are often caused by overwatering, while curling, crispy leaves can indicate that the plant is too dry or the humidity is low. Slow or leggy growth may mean it needs more light. Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests such as mealybug, scale and spider mites, particularly along the stems and leaf undersides.

Pet and reptile safety

Scindapsus Silver Splash is toxic if ingested by dogs and cats and can cause irritation to the mouth, tongue and digestive system due to naturally occurring calcium oxalate crystals. It is therefore best kept away from pets that like to chew plants. It is also not considered reptile-safe where chewing or ingestion may occur, so choose a confirmed reptile-safe plant for enclosures.
