Appearance and growth habit
Gasteria ‘Little Warty’ is a compact succulent with thick, tongue-shaped leaves covered in textured, raised bumps that give it its famously quirky name. The leaves grow in a neat rosette pattern, often with a dark green base and subtle speckling that adds extra character. It stays small and slow-growing, making it ideal for desks, shelves, and succulent collections where space is limited but personality is still required. Think low drama, high texture.
 
Care requirements
This succulent prefers bright indirect light and can handle some gentle direct sun, especially in the morning. Water sparingly, allowing the soil to dry out completely between waterings, as it stores moisture in its leaves. A well-draining cactus or succulent mix is essential to prevent root rot. It thrives on a “less is more” watering schedule — overhelping is the fastest way to stress it out.
 
Troubleshooting
Soft, mushy leaves usually indicate overwatering, while wrinkled or thin leaves can mean it’s too dry. If the plant stretches or loses compact form, it likely needs more light.
