Pachira Aquatica Variegated, commonly known as the Variegated Money Tree, is a stunning indoor plant featuring glossy, hand-shaped leaves decorated with beautiful splashes of creamy white, pale yellow and green. Its unique variegation makes every leaf a little different, while its upright growth habit and attractive trunk create an elegant tropical appearance. Believed to bring good luck and prosperity, this beauty might not actually grow money, but it certainly looks expensive!

Care requirements

Provide bright, indirect light to maintain its beautiful variegation and encourage healthy growth. Avoid harsh direct sunlight, which can scorch the lighter leaf sections. Water when the top few centimetres of the growing medium have dried out, and use a well-draining potting mix to prevent waterlogged roots. It enjoys warmth, moderate humidity and consistent conditions. Variegated varieties may grow slightly slower than their fully green relatives.

Troubleshooting

Brown or crispy patches on the lighter leaf sections may indicate sunburn, low humidity or inconsistent watering. Yellowing leaves and leaf drop can result from overwatering, poor drainage or sudden environmental changes. Keep an eye out for spider mites, mealybugs and scale insects. Its safety for reptiles has not been established across all species, so it should only be used in reptile enclosures after confirming suitability for the specific animal.
