Appearance and growth habit
Ficus Lemon and Lime is a compact, attractive ficus with glossy green leaves splashed with creamy yellow-green variegation. It has an upright, bushy growth habit and makes a great choice for bright indoor spaces, adding plenty of colour without demanding the spotlight.
 
Care requirements
Give your Ficus Lemon and Lime bright, indirect light to maintain its attractive variegation and healthy growth. Water when the top layer of soil has dried out, avoiding constantly soggy soil. It enjoys warmth and moderate humidity, and a well-draining potting mix will keep those roots happy. In short: bright light, sensible watering and no soggy feet.
 
Troubleshooting
Yellowing leaves or leaf drop can be caused by overwatering, sudden changes in conditions or insufficient light. If the plant becomes leggy or loses its variegation, move it somewhere brighter. A little leaf drop after moving is also fairly normal while it adjusts to its new surroundings. Keep an eye out for common houseplant pests such as scale, mealybug and spider mites.
 
Pet and reptile safety
Ficus plants contain a milky sap that can cause irritation if chewed or ingested. Keep Ficus Lemon and Lime away from dogs and cats that like to nibble plants. It is also not considered reptile-safe for enclosures where the plant may be intentionally or regularly chewed. For reptiles that may accidentally take an occasional bite, it is best to choose a known reptile-safe plant instead.
