Appearance and growth habit
Ficus Monique is a popular indoor ficus with slender, glossy green leaves and an attractive upright, branching growth habit. The 10cm size is a great option for adding a neat touch of greenery to shelves, desks or plant collections, with plenty of room to grow into a fuller plant.
Care requirements
Give Ficus Monique bright, indirect light and allow the top layer of soil to dry slightly between waterings. It enjoys warmth, moderate humidity and well-draining soil. Avoid overwatering and sudden changes in its environment, as this ficus can be a little dramatic about moving house.
Troubleshooting
Leaf drop is fairly common if the plant experiences sudden changes in light, temperature, watering or location. Yellow leaves usually point to overwatering, while slow or sparse growth can indicate insufficient light. Check regularly for common pests such as scale, mealybug and spider mites, especially if the plant is kept with other indoor plants.
Pet and reptile safety
Ficus Monique produces a milky sap that can cause irritation if chewed or ingested. It is not considered pet-safe for dogs and cats, particularly those prone to nibbling plants. It is also not recommended as a reptile-safe plant where chewing or regular ingestion may occur. For reptile enclosures, choose a plant specifically known to be safe for reptiles.
