Appearance and growth habit

Peperomia Zorro is a compact, attractive houseplant with thick, slightly textured green leaves and a neat, upright-to-bushy growth habit. Its foliage has a distinctive, slightly ridged appearance that gives it plenty of character without taking over the room. A great little plant when you want something interesting without needing a jungle-sized commitment.

Care requirements

Give Peperomia Zorro bright, indirect light for the best growth, although it can tolerate lower light conditions. Allow the soil to dry out between waterings and use a loose, well-draining potting mix. Keep it warm and avoid letting the plant sit in water. Moderate humidity is usually perfectly adequate, making it a fairly easy-going houseplant.

Troubleshooting

Yellow, soft or dropping leaves are usually a sign of overwatering, while shrivelled or crispy leaves can indicate the plant has stayed dry for too long. If growth becomes stretched or sparse, move it somewhere with brighter indirect light. Keep an eye out for mealybugs and other common houseplant pests, especially around the stems and leaf joints.

Pet and reptile safety

Peperomia species are generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs, making Peperomia Zorro a good option for pet-friendly homes. It is also commonly used as a reptile-safe plant and can be suitable for appropriate terrariums and enclosures. Always use plants that are free from pesticides, fertilisers or other chemical treatments before placing them around reptiles.
