Alocasia Scalprum is all about texture and shape. Long, narrow leaves with deep ridges run from stem to tip, giving it a sculpted, almost reptile-like appearance. The foliage is a rich, dark green with a subtle sheen, and the pronounced veining creates that slightly rugged, almost prehistoric look.

It’s not your typical soft, rounded Alocasia. This one is sharper, more structured, and a little bit edgy. Even at plug size, you can already see that unique form starting to develop, and as it matures, those ridges become deeper and more dramatic.

Care

Scalprum enjoys bright, indirect light. It can tolerate slightly lower light, but the growth will slow and the structure won’t be as bold.

Water when the top layer of soil starts to dry out. Keep the soil evenly moist but never waterlogged. Good drainage is essential, especially for a young plug.

It appreciates higher humidity and will reward you with healthier, more defined leaves when the air isn’t too dry.

Keep it warm and away from cold drafts. Like most Alocasias, it prefers consistency.

Troubleshooting

Yellow leaves are usually a watering issue, most often overwatering or soil staying too wet.

Brown or crispy edges can mean low humidity or inconsistent watering.

If the plant seems to stall or drop a leaf, it may just be adjusting. Alocasias are known for cycling leaves as they grow.

Soft stems or a mushy base is a red flag for rot, check drainage and ease up on watering.

Pet & Reptile Safety

Not pet or reptile safe. Alocasia Scalprum contains calcium oxalate crystals, which are toxic if ingested. Best kept out of reach of pets and curious reptiles.
