Appearance and growth habit

Begonia ‘Don Miller’ is a striking foliage Begonia with large, textured leaves covered in silvery-grey markings and darker green veins, often with reddish tones underneath. It grows into a bushy, upright plant and makes an eye-catching addition to an indoor plant collection. Its dramatic foliage does most of the showing off, so you can just enjoy the results.

Care requirements

Give Begonia ‘Don Miller’ bright, indirect light and keep it warm, ideally around 18–28°C. It enjoys moderate to high humidity and should be watered when the top layer of the growing medium starts to dry. Use an airy, well-draining mix and avoid leaving the roots sitting in water. Feed lightly during active growth to encourage healthy foliage.

Troubleshooting

Brown or crispy leaf edges can indicate low humidity, underwatering or too much direct sunlight. Yellowing leaves are often caused by overwatering or poor drainage. Drooping can happen when the plant is either too dry or has been kept too wet for too long. Keep moisture consistent, provide good airflow and avoid constantly fussing with it — Begonias prefer stability over drama.

Pet and reptile safety

Begonia ‘Don Miller’ should be treated as not pet safe. Begonias contain calcium oxalates, which can cause irritation if eaten. It is not recommended for reptiles that may nibble on the foliage, including reptiles kept in planted enclosures. Keep it away from cats, dogs and reptiles that have access to the plant.
