Appearance and growth habit
Begonia ‘Don Miller’ is a striking foliage Begonia with large, textured leaves featuring silvery-green colouring, darker veins and attractive reddish tones underneath. Its bold foliage makes it an excellent statement plant for indoor collections, terrariums and humid plant displays. It grows as a compact, bushy plant and looks especially impressive when given plenty of space to show off those leaves.
 
Care requirements
Give Begonia ‘Don Miller’ bright, indirect light and keep it warm with moderate to high humidity. Water when the surface of the growing medium starts to dry, keeping the roots moist but never waterlogged. Use a loose, well-draining mix with plenty of organic matter. Good airflow is important, because Begonias appreciate humidity but definitely don't enjoy sitting in stagnant, soggy conditions.
 
Troubleshooting
Brown or crispy leaf edges usually mean the air is too dry, the plant is getting too much direct sunlight, or it has dried out too much. Yellowing or soft stems can indicate overwatering. Avoid keeping water sitting on the leaves for long periods, as Begonias can be prone to fungal problems. If growth becomes stretched and sparse, move it somewhere brighter.
 
Pet and reptile safety
Begonia ‘Don Miller’ is not considered pet-safe. Begonias contain calcium oxalates and can cause irritation if eaten, particularly to the mouth and digestive system. For this reason, it is best kept away from cats and dogs that chew plants and should not be used inside reptile or amphibian enclosures where the animal may eat the foliage.
