Alocasia scalprum

The Alocasia scalprum is sleek, dark and beautifully sculpted.

Long, narrow, blade-like leaves grow upright on strong stems, each leaf deeply textured with ridges that run from base to tip. The surface has a subtle metallic sheen, often appearing deep green with darker undertones depending on the light.

Unlike broader Alocasias, scalprum has a sharper silhouette. The leaves are elongated and slightly arched, giving it a more refined, almost dramatic profile. It feels rare. Structured. A little mysterious.

New leaves emerge tightly rolled before slowly unfurling into their full, ridged form.

⚠️ Pet & Reptile Safety

Alocasia scalprum is NOT pet safe.

Like all Alocasias, it contains calcium oxalate crystals and is toxic to dogs, cats, and reptiles if ingested. Keep out of reach of curious pets.

Plant Care

Light

Bright, indirect light is ideal. Avoid direct sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. In lower light, growth may slow and leaves may become less defined.

Water

Keep the soil lightly and evenly moist. Allow the top layer to dry slightly between waterings. Do not allow the plant to sit in water.

Humidity

Prefers moderate to high humidity. Higher humidity helps maintain the rich texture and prevents edge browning.

Temperature

Thrives in warm, stable indoor conditions. Protect from cold drafts and sudden temperature changes.

Dormancy

May slow down or drop a leaf in cooler months. This is normal. Reduce watering slightly during this period.

Growth Habit

Upright and compact, forming a tight clump over time.
