Appearance and growth habit
Ficus ‘Golden Princess’ is a compact, attractive ficus with glossy green leaves highlighted by creamy-yellow variegation. Its upright, bushy growth makes it a great choice for adding colour and structure to an indoor plant collection without needing a huge amount of space. Give it good light and it will reward you with fuller, healthier growth.
Care requirements
Place Ficus ‘Golden Princess’ in bright, indirect light, with some gentle morning sun if available. Water when the top few centimetres of soil have dried, using a well-draining potting mix and a pot with drainage holes. It enjoys moderate humidity and warm, stable temperatures. Rotate the plant regularly for even growth and avoid moving it around too often; ficus can be a little dramatic about change.
Troubleshooting
Leaf drop is common after a change in location, watering routine or temperature and does not always mean something is seriously wrong. Yellow leaves usually indicate overwatering, while crispy edges can point to dry conditions or too much direct sun. Check regularly for spider mites, mealybugs and scale, particularly if the air is dry. Consistent care is the secret to keeping this ficus looking fabulous.
Pet and reptile safety
Ficus plants can contain an irritating milky sap, and ingestion may cause mouth or gastrointestinal irritation in pets. Ficus ‘Golden Princess’ is therefore not recommended as a pet-safe plant or for reptile enclosures where chewing may occur. Accidental contact with the sap is generally more of an irritation concern than a serious toxicity risk, but it is best kept away from animals that like to nibble.
