Appearance and growth habit
Anthurium Veitchii, often called the King Anthurium, is famous for its exceptionally long, narrow, strap-like leaves with pronounced ribbing. As it matures, the leaves can become impressively long, creating a dramatic statement plant with a tropical look. It grows from a central stem and is best given plenty of room for those leaves to do their thing.
 
Care requirements
Give Anthurium Veitchii bright, indirect light and high humidity for the best growth. Keep the growing medium lightly moist but never waterlogged, using a chunky, airy mix that allows plenty of oxygen around the roots. Warm temperatures, good airflow and consistent care will keep it happiest. It is more demanding than your average houseplant, but the leaves make the effort worthwhile.
 
Troubleshooting
Brown or crispy leaf edges are commonly caused by low humidity, inconsistent watering, salt build-up or insufficient airflow. Yellowing leaves can indicate overwatering or stressed roots. If new leaves are small or growth has stalled, check the light, humidity, temperature and root health before assuming your plant is simply being dramatic.
 
Pet and reptile safety
Anthurium Veitchii is toxic if ingested and should be kept away from cats, dogs and other pets that may chew on the foliage. It is not considered a reptile-safe plant and is not recommended for enclosures where reptiles can access or consume the leaves. Best enjoyed as a spectacular collector's plant rather than reptile décor.
