Appearance and growth habit
Pilea glaucophylla is a compact, delicate trailing plant with small, rounded leaves that have an attractive blue-green to silvery appearance. Its fine stems create a soft, cascading habit, making it a great choice for terrariums, vivariums, shelves and hanging displays. It stays relatively small but fills out nicely when happy.
 
Care requirements
Give Pilea glaucophylla bright, indirect light and keep the soil lightly moist, allowing the surface to dry slightly between waterings. It enjoys warmth and moderate to high humidity, making it particularly well suited to terrarium environments. Use a well-draining mix and avoid letting it sit in soggy soil.

Crispy leaves or excessive leaf drop usually mean the plant is too dry or the humidity is too low. Yellowing or soft foliage can indicate overwatering, while thin, stretched growth often means it needs more light. Regular trimming can encourage a fuller, bushier appearance and stop it becoming a little too enthusiastic with the trailing.

Pilea glaucophylla is generally considered non-toxic to cats and dogs and is considered safe for reptiles and amphibians. It can be a good choice for suitable reptile, amphibian and bioactive enclosures where incidental nibbling may occur, provided the plant has not been treated with pesticides or other potentially harmful chemicals.
